The idea for POT PAWS plant feet emerged in 2020 when designer Malin Carrick sought a solution to protect windowsills and table surfaces in her own home from the unsightly stains that often appear under pots, vases, and candle holders. Her vision was to create feet that felt exclusive, complemented the décor, and simultaneously protected surfaces.

Crafted with Love and Care

In her studio, Malin Carrick has designed a unique series of plant feet with a sleek aesthetic, created with love and care for both people and the environment. With high quality and an exclusive feel, these sustainable products adorn homes and gardens while protecting surfaces from discoloration and damage.

Collaborating with Suppliers Every Step of the Way

After more than 30 years as a goldsmith and product developer, Malin Carrick decided to focus on her own designs, with the goal of creating smart designs with functionality, quality, and an exclusive touch.

“My strength has always been in capturing and realizing others’ ideas into finished products, but now it’s time to let my own ideas take flight. POT PAWS are my designs, and I’ve worked closely with suppliers every step of the way, from my original technical drawings to production techniques and crafting products to the desired quality.”

From Textiles to Metals

Malin initially planned to become a textile teacher. While waiting for the training to begin, she took a course in silversmithing, which sparked her love for the goldsmith trade, and the idea of becoming a textile teacher was set aside. After her apprenticeship and journeyman’s certificate, she started her own business, handcrafting unique jewelry for goldsmith shops in Stockholm. “It was a valuable time where I learned the craft from the ground up.” After more than 10 years as an entrepreneur, Malin collaborated with Efva Attling on her journey in the jewelry industry, working on collection development for 14 years.

A Drive to Learn and Evolve Continually

When the pandemic halted much of the world, it felt like the right time to dare to follow her dreams. Plant feet had been an idea for a long time, so the start-up process was quick. Drawing on her previous experience and contacts with suppliers, Malin searched for a suitable factory, created the original models by hand, developed technical specifications, and sent the products off for production. Soon, the right match was found – Pot Paws would be made in zinc with silver and gold finishes, focusing on Swedish design and quality.

“Our hope is that customers will be pleasantly surprised when their package arrives. Pot Paws products should feel delightful and luxurious, like a piece of jewelry for the home, and be something that can be used for a long time.”
